In response to our requests for some healthy lifestyle recipes we received some lip smacking suggestions. Chef Simon Stewart had a good look through them all and selected those recipes which were truly healthy and good for you. On Sunday 25th March 2012 some of our students were invited to work with Simon in the kitchen to cook up a storm. The smells coming from the kitchen were delicious! Collaborative National Art Project: FACE BRITAIN

Some of our young people who opted to participate in art workshops on a Sunday morning (with our resident art teacher Sharon Hopwood) have created work for a groundbreaking collaborative national art project entitled Face Britain. Face Britain is the latest project created by Children & the Arts and has been designed to celebrate the nation’s children in the lead up to HM The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and London Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012. The Wind Road Boys

It spans many generations and looks at the trials and tribulations of a Durham family caught up in the ever-changing world of mining in the Durham coalfields. This production, which is being specially written for us, promises to be great family entertainment with fun and songs around every corner, but you may wish to bring a handkerchief, too, just in case!

Enter aiming high

Last week we were delighted to be informed that we had successfully secured some funding from the Aiming High for Disabled Children Small Grants Fund to purchase some fantastic equipment to use in our Arts Enabled sessions. The young people attending our programme will benefit from Jumbie Jam steel pan kits, hand bells, glockenspiels, and much more.
