On Saturday 25th October 2014 we welcomed professional theatre company ‘Metta Theatre’ to our venue in Ferryhill. The theatre company brought their fantastic version of ‘Alice’ to our centre as part of The Take Off Festival 2014.
This new production gives a new take on the original story of ‘Alice in Wonderland’. A magical, moving WW1 story of the real-life Alice in Wonderland, told through imaginative puppetry & music.
1915 Bombs rain down. Sheltering in her dusty cellar, Alice rediscovers her past amongst old lamp shades & moth-eaten christening gowns. Her son Alan, a WW1 soldier, makes the same imaginary journey down the rabbit hole to escape the madness of war, returning them both to a wonderland of talking rabbits, mad hatters & savage queens.
This was the second professional production to come to Enter CIC as part of the festival and we were delighted to introduce more professional children’s theatre to the community. It was great to see a full house with audience members from the community. We feel that it is vital for people to be able to access high quality theatre productions in their community without having to travel and pay high costs usually associated with professional theatre.
To be a part of The Take Off Festival 2014 has been a great experience for Enter CIC and we know that it has had a positive impact on the community and the young people that came to see the shows.
We would like to extend our gratitude to the Take Off Festival 2014 team, Metta Theatre Theatre Company and to all Enter CIC staff and volunteers who worked hard to make this event possible.
