Some days are very special and quite simply yesterday was one of those! As part of our research for the work we are currently conducting in Hartlepool, I visited and spent an afternoon with three very special WW2 veterans (all of whom are in their 90’s). The first veteran I visited was called Mr T Lewis. He will be 100 years of age on the 24th October 2018 (our first performance day for Honoured). We are intensely proud of the impact we have on local communities. Communities are a collection of individuals who exist together to improve their lives. We have initiated many new and exciting projects that make a positive impact on our community and inspire others to maintain that sense of momentum to a better future.
We have covered every area from supporting fundraising efforts of local community groups, to raising funds for regional and national charities; from providing free health and exercise workshops in elderly day care centres to creating a free Healthy Lifestyles website for use by schools and families across the whole of County Durham and beyond.
As for individuals, we support young people in gaining new skills and experiences to support their professional and personal development, giving them the confidence to apply those skills within and beyond their own community, and engage adults in volunteering to support skills development, improve employability, provide meaningful social engagement and realise aspirations.
“Each and every one of you were fab and you are all a credit to your family, friends, teachers, mentors and the community.” ‘Days In, Days Out’ member
“A few more organisations around the country like yours I’m sure would make it a much better place to live in, keep up the good work.” Local pensioner
“You are doing a great job and Ferryhill is very lucky to have you working here. Keep up the good work.” Val Jago, Headteacher
“Enter CIC does a wonderful job at encouraging and supporting young people to take part in positive activities that develop skills, but also educates and supports positive learning.” Tracey Jackson, Head of Communities, Livin
“Working with local schools and youth workers, hundreds of local young people were involved in this project and every one of them achieved something exceptional. The show itself was brilliant -local people working alongside professionals to produce a show of genuine quality and emotion. Enter CIC showed the young people what they were capable of – not just in performing arts, but in life. It was truly inspirational” Carole Payne, Head of Early Intervention and Partnership, Children and Young People’s Services, Durham County Council.

Heugh Battery Museum
On Wednesday, 8th August 2018, we visited the Heugh Battery Museum; the only World War One Battlefield in the UK. The Over The Wire young people and activity mentors were taken on a private tour of the battlefield and participated in workshops looking at weaponry, uniform and life in the trenches. The tour provided the opportunity for our students to see the only World War One battlefield in the UK, learn about the bombardment of the Hartlepools and gain an in-depth knowledge about the consequences of the bombardment and life…
