Community work is at the heart of Enter CIC. Since our inception we have become a central meeting point for an array of individuals and groups living and working in our local community. We work hard to showcase and develop the strengths of our local community and to provide a safe and inspiring environment for local people to meet and engage with one another. People can be seen chatting over a cup of coffee, or greeting an old friend at one of our community sharing’s/performances. Enter CIC have become a central point for young and old to mix, share skills and learn from one another.
In September 2012 we secured the use of the old Baptist Church as a regular, long term base. Our aim in doing so was to create a central community hub. Our venue now known as the Enter Centre is a little like a chameleon and its environment changes with each event. It has been transformed into a 1930’s dance hall, rehearsal studio, toddler play area, theatre, cinema, a community hub, formal learning environment, examination centre, costume department, workshop studio, props store, production house and continues to be a vibrant and vital venue for the community.
Enter CIC is passionate about reaching, supporting and working with our local community across South County Durham. In all of our work we promote the traditional values of community, sharing, caring, mutual support and proactive engagement. We are always open to new ideas that the community may have and we are passionate about bringing those ideas to life and turning them into a reality.
We are frequently asked why we are called Enter. The explanation is simple we want people to:
- Enter a new chapter in their lives
- Enter the world of work
- Enter the world of training
- Enter into community activities
