On Friday 10th August 2018 the Over The Wire young people met Alan and Malcolm from the Northumbria World War One Project.

Our young people were very interested to learn about the vast database produced by Alan and his team, which has biographical details of over 1850 men who were part of World War One from the borough of Tynemouth. The database is free to use and is an invaluable tool for those researching World War One.

This visit gave the ‘Over the Wire’ young people a greater understanding of their upcoming visit to Belgium. Alan and Malcolm have visited the battlefields and memorial spots in Belgium on numerous occasions and are a fountain of knowledge. It was a honour for us to meet them and we are very thankful for their time.
