What happens in the Enter Club?
The sessions operate on a rotation basis within classes in a number of different arts disciplines. Club participants can specialise in any discipline they wish. We also offer private tuition and small group sessions. Our sessions use the creative arts to teach our students life skills that are of paramount importance in everyday life.
When you arrive at a session for the first time you will be greeted by the receptionist. They will ask you to fill in a couple of forms for safeguarding purposes. Once these forms have been completed your child will be allocated an Enter CIC Buddy and then they will be asked to join the group. At this point you will be encouraged to leave your child and wait in the waiting area, or if you wish you may leave the premises. At the end of the session you will be asked to enter the room where the young people have been working. At this point the young people will be individually dismissed in accordance with our Child Protection Policy. Before you leave the session you be invited to have a quick chat with one of the coaches to discuss how your child did during the sessions.
Young people receive expert tuition in the arts, and will regularly get to work with TV personalities and mentors from the industry. Andrea Mallen Flynn the Director of Enter CIC has worked in the performance industry for over twenty years and has trained countless TV and West End stars. As a result, Enter CIC has a lot of contacts in the industry and a whole host of patrons and supporters who are ready to teach and perform on the Enter CICprogrammes.
Our sessions are designed to be fun, interactive and engaging. Young people will feel at home, safe and will make new friends. Our aim is to have a positive impact on young people’s confidence and aspirations.
Our staff are experts in the industry and all hold enhanced CRBs.
The Enter Club Buddy System
The Buddy system was designed to help young people of all ages feel comfortable when they first attend our sessions. We know it can be daunting for a young person to walk into a room full of young people they may not know. To help counteract this and to ensure that any new starters are quickly integrated into the sessions we offer the Enter CIC Buddy system. Every new person is allocated a ‘buddy’ on their first evening. It is the role of the ‘buddy’ to remain with the new starter throughout the evening. They will stay with them during their classes and show them where to go during class transitions. This is a particularly effective system and helps the new person settle quickly whilst showing the ‘buddy’ that we trust them to have a level of responsibility and do a good job ensuring that the new person feels comfortable and confident.
Can parents stay at the sessions?
We understand that the first time your child attends a session you may be a little anxious and this is understandable because it may be a totally new experience for you and your child. However, we do try to encourage parents/carers not to observe the sessions as we find that young people perform better when they are focusing solely on their tutor. However, we do hold parent/carer evenings and at such times parents are invited to attend the sessions to observe their child in action and to discuss their progress with staff.
