Our brand new project entitled ‘Celebration of Age’ is a fantastic new initiative that Enter CIC will be pushing out over the next few months. The project will run on Thursday evenings and will see our Upper School students visiting and interviewing the local community who are unable to leave their residences.

The project will bring together people from different generations so they can gain an insight into each others interests. This intergenerational project will impact up to 150 members of the community who are over 60 years of age.

Young people from our Upper School group will work closely with residents from residential homes and groups for the elderly to see what type of activities older people would like to see or participate in. From the findings our young people will plan, organise and host an event which will bring together members of the community from different generations.

This is a project that our Upper School were keen to explore in Youth Council Meetings and we believe that this will be a fantastic opportunity for young and old to share stories and experiences and really understand each others lives.

This is what the Big Lottery said about the project:

‘This is a project by a community interest company in Ferryhill, County Durham. The organisation will use the funding to deliver a series of inter-generational workshops over three months leading to a presentation and final event showcasing the activities involving older people living in residential homes and young people. This will challenge assumptions and stereotypes and increase understanding and mutual respect across the generations’
