La Farge Visit Enter

lafargenews

On Wednesday 22nd January 2014 Enter CIC welcomed Lafarge’s Quarry Manager Jon Merchant to The Enter Centre. Upon arrival at our centre Mr Merchant was warmly greeted by staff, volunteer and students alike.  It was wonderful to be able to welcome Mr Merchant to our premises because it provided us with a wonderful opportunity to thank lafargenewsLafarge for their funding which had enabled us to replace 10 windows at The Enter Centre earlier in the year.

Mr Merchant was amazed at the talents of the Enter CIC children admitting that he hadn’t known what to expect, but that he wouldn’t have missed this type of event for the world. Jon Merchant was handed a thank you card from the children. Many of the Enter CIC children had signed the card to express their appreciation for the funding we had received from Lafarge.
Throughout the night Mr Merchant heard the children sing and watched extracts from an array of Enter CIC performances. He was particularly interested in the performances from The Wind Road Boys.
Jon Merchant, manager of Lafarge Tarmac’s Thrislington Quarry said: “This is real Billy Elliot country, and Andrea is right to say it’s not about where you come from, but the journey you take. I’m just delighted that by replacing these ten windows through the company’s landfill communities scheme, we have been able to help so many young people.”
Andrea Flynn said: “On paper its just money for windows, but it means much more than that, it’s about what those items enable us to provide for young lives and for our community – so a huge thanks goes from all of us to Lafarge Tarmac.”
