A few weeks ago, Andrea Flynn received an invitation from County Durham Community Foundation to be their inspirational guest speaker at their CDCF Women’s Spring Lunch 2015 taking place at Raddison Blu, Durham. The event was hosted by CDCF Ambassador and radio presenter, Lisa Shaw. Andrea spoke about her role training and working alongside TV and West End stars and her current role as Director of Enter CIC. She spoke about the impact of Enter CIC and the strength and commitment of Enter’s wonderful staff, volunteers, guest lecturers and young people.

At the end of the speech, Andrea introduced four students from Enter CIC. As they took to the stage no one quite knew what to expect, but as the music commenced and their beautiful voices/harmonies filled the room everyone was delighted. They performed “The Call” from our production “Home Fires” by Paul Flynn. At the end of the performance many of the audience stood up and gave the performers a lengthy standing ovation.

“Just an awesome performance at our women’s lunch. Took our breath away and got a standing ovation. Andrea was as inspirational as ever.”

“So inspirational yesterday. A brilliant performance from the young people, goosebumps and moving.”

“Fantastic energy and talent in the performance from Enter CIC young people at the CDCF event.”

“Great performance by the gents from Enter CIC, you sang so strong and beautifully.”

“Wow! fantastic performance from the guys at Enter CIC amazing performance.”

This praise is a result of students having a solid working ethos. Anyone who has ever been a student of Andrea’s understands the importance of working hard. As she stated during her speech, Enter’s CIC’s current staff, volunteers, and students exemplify this ethos. Sometimes it is easy to overlook how much preparation, and hard work goes into a performance, or what every student has to do to hone their talent in order to take the next step. We think the quote below captures the essence of Enter and clearly embodies why Enter CIC students achieve.

“If people knew how hard I worked to get my mastery, it wouldn’t seem so wonderful at all.” Michaelangelo

Andrea would like to thank all of the staff at CDCF for providing a wonderful platform to promote the work of Enter. The CDCF Women’s Spring Lunch is a wonderful event which celebrates the achievements of local County Durham intiatives whilst raising funds for CDCF which in turn supports so many worth while community causes.
