What a way to end another fantastic year of performances and opportunities at Enter CIC with a performance entitled ‘Christmas Spirit’. This year our Christmas performancechristmasspiritnews1 was a showcase of the work that our young people have been involved with throughout 2013.

On Sunday 8th December and Wednesday 11th December 2013 we provided the community with a free performance. The performances took place at The Methodist Church in erryhill and The Enter Centre in Ferryhill. We were delighted to welcome friends and family from our local community and an array of dignitaries to The Enter Centre event including Mrs Sue Snowden the Lord Lieutenant of County Durham (pictured right with our young people), Mrs Pauline Charlton Chairman of County Durham Council and Mayor of Durham, Mrs Elizabeth Bruce Mayor of Chilton, Michael Banks Assistant Chief Constable of Durham Police Force, Councillor Christine Potts, Councillor Brian Avery, Paula Nixon AAP, Barbara Gubbins Chief Executive County Durham Community Foundation, Vivien Stapely Sir James Knott Trust and several headteachers from local schools.

The evenings featured anchristmasspiritnews2 array of songs including the fantastic sacred Christmas carol Gaudete (“rejoice” in Latin) published in Piae Cantiones in 1582. The young people performed acapella and astounded the audience with their rendition of the carol. Another big hit of the night was the classic carol White Christmas, again performed acapella with a great comedy sketch that left the audience crying with laughter.

christmasspiritnews4At the end of the performance on Wednesday Mrs Sue Snowden addressed the audience and spoke about the outstanding performance and strengths of the young people. This was seconded by Mrs Pauline Charlton who praised the young people for their dedication and hard work.

In 2013 our young people have performed at some amazing venues including Durham Cathedral, but it was wonderful to see them performing for their own community on home ground. A lovely evening with very special guests and amazingly talented young people.

The magic of Christmas came early for 120 people in Ferryhill on Sunday night. Not Santa but ENTER CIC performing at the Methodist Church. What a magical Christmas present for all. The service packed with young people performing to the highest possible standards. The younger kids probably stole the show, but to see how the older youths have grown in statue is unbelievable. The singing and harmonies were tremendous and the excellent performance was a joy to watch. Your hard work and enthusiasm shines through like a large beacon and has started to rub off in the community. Please wish everybody connected with Enter CIC a MERRY XMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR. Hope all your wishes come true for the future . From one of your many many supporters.
