17th February 2014

On Saturday 15th February 2014 we were invited to perform at The Assembly Rooms Theatre in Durham City as part of the Durham Drama Festival. The festival, putassemblyroom2 together by students of Durham Student Theatre has been going for 38 years and showcasing fantastic new theatre pieces from around the country.

This was another great opportunity to showcase the talents of our students with our very own ‘The Wind Road Boys’ musical production. It was also a fantastic opportunity for our technical students (who had been at The Assembly Rooms the week before for work experience) to put their new found skills to the assemblyroom3test. The tech crew (pictured left) headed up to the venue first thing and began to rig the lights, set up the sound and perfect the running order as the cast made their way up to start rehearsals (pictured right)

Our young people performed the abridged version of ‘The Wind Road Boys’ to a great crowd who were once again blown away with the professional performance they witnessed. It was fantastic to be involved in such a great tradition that focuses solely on new writing and a real honour to be able to perform at such a great venue. We received some fantastic feedback from the judges at the festival and from the audience:

“Just been blown away by Enter CIC’s community musical. Comedy, colliery and true northern soul.”assemblyroom1
