Congratulations to all the students that took part in the groundbreaking national art project entitled Face Britain. Over 200,000 children around the UK took part in the project to mark HM The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee year. Every child’s self portrait was used in a very special montage portrait of HM The Queen that was projected onto Buckingham Palace between 8.30pm – 11.15pm from 19th – 21st April.
The montage portrait of HM The Queen will also be simultaneously showcased on the national network of BBC Big Screens in town centres and via a network of digital advertising screens in train stations across the UK.

The project encouraged young people to create a self portrait in any style (3d, pencil drawing, painting, collage etc) and upload it to the Face Britain online gallery. In addition all of our young people who participated in these workshops will help to break the Guinness World record for ‘most artists working on the same art installation’. We are delighted to have been part of such a fantastic project.
The entire collection of children’s self portraits will be stored by The British Library as part of HM The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Collection national web archives. The students have not only played an active part in the Jubilee celebrations, but also history in the making.
Face Britain has been designed by The Prince’s Foundation for Children & the Arts, an educational charity established by HRH The Prince of Wales with the goal of unlocking the arts for all young people in the UK.
