Enter works hard to provide our students with an array of professional work experience opportunities. These opportunities are unique and help to ensure that our students are well prepared for professional auditions, university/conservatoire applications and the professional theatre industry.
In the past our students have been placed in West End theatres and Class A theatres in the North of England. They have found themselves working on large scale professional musicals including Monty Pythons Spamalot, Dreamboats and Petticoats and Wicked to name a few professional productions.
In March 2016 four of our students were once again presented with an opportunity to gain professional experience working with the fabulous cast and crew of Matthew Bourne’s Sleeping Beauty at the Theatre Royal, Newcastle. Our students were able to work in an array of departments and gain rare industry experience. They all thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
“I just want to say thank you for the amazing opportunity to work on Matthew Bourne’s, Sleeping Beauty. It was a new experience and I have learnt such a lot from the stage management team. I gained an understanding of 30 minute calls, the way the show is adapted to ensure all outcomes are covered should an emergency occur, props, scene changes, choreographic requirements. Chris and his team were so welcoming and helpful. I shadowed so many people with different responsibilities and roles. Thank you again for the opportunity.”
“Thank you so much for this opportunity. I loved working in my speciality area. Looking at the book, lighting desks, the master copy and the technical aspects associated with powering the lights and technical equipment utilised in this production. It was amazing to see the mechanics of the props and how every aspect of the production had been carefully considered and constructed. I had different roles in both acts and I thoroughly enjoyed being on headsets and listening to different show cues. I also found it very interesting to watch how crew had to make on the spot decisions as the show was running. Several people offered valuable advise about the industry. Thank you so much for this experience I have learnt such a lot.”
“Had a fantastic day at the Theatre Royal, working on on Matthew Bourne’s Sleeping Beauty production. A stunning show throughout, which was supported by a great cast and crew. I worked both on stage and in the lighting box which enabled me to see both aspects of the production. The amount I have learnt and the people I have met I didn’t think was possible. I would like to thank everyone involved. What a great day! If only I could wake up and do it all again!”
