Enter CIC is a unique learning centre that provides educational opportunities outside of the normal school environment. The main focus of our Off the Page project is to improve literacy skills in young people who find it difficult to engage in an academic learning environment.
Our tutors, who are highly trained in delivering educational resources have structured the sessions to the learning requirements of the different age groups.
The one hour sessions are filled with fun activities based on the book they are working on that month. The first month the children are looking at ‘The Gruffalo’ by Julia Donaldson, the wonderful and humorous children’s book ‘Horrible Histories’ and the best-selling Michael Morpurgo book, ‘War Horse’.
The sessions are going extremely well and the young people are really enjoying our new and exciting approach to learning about literacy. The sessions are designed to be fun and everyone is encouraged to participate in all activities. In our last session the children got to meet our brand new character Professor Alphabet! The Professor will be regularly attending the sessions to help the children with their letters.
We are delighted with the response to this fantastic project. We have witnessed first-hand how students studying on our programmes gain in confidence and self-esteem. We believe that if children are given the right tools and direction they will strive forward and be the best they can be.
The Off the Page project, funded by our local AAP 4 Together Partnership will run until December 2013.
