trimdonnewsOn Saturday 19th May 2012, we conducted an array of workshops at Trimdon Station Community Centre. The young people attending the free workshops participated in drumming, art and dance workshops.
As many of you are aware we are now working towards our performance at Sunderland Empire and Sharon (our resident artist) had this in mind when she designed her art workshop. The stimuli for her session was a mining town and throughout her art workshop the children painted a large canvas depicting a street of houses with a group of miners heading to work. We were astounded with the final product especially considering that many of the young children participating in the workshop were under ten years of age! Just take a look at the painting below and I am sure you will agree that they all have a natural talent for creativity and specifically art.

We were so impressed with the young peoples hard work that we are going to have the large canvas framed. It will then be mounted and take pride of place in our VIP area at the Sunderland Empire on August 7th 2012. It will also be featured in The Wind Road Boys programme. Well done to all of those budding artists whose names are listed below:
  • Jessica Mary Clarke
  • Macaulie Gray
  • Gracie Flynn
  • Georgia Lily Robson
  • Samuel Ridley Scott
  • William Dennis Scott
  • Ruby May Smyth
  • Brilyn Petra Smyth
  • Sophie Olivia Tereus
  • Sophie Grace Wilson
We would also like to extend our gratitude to Derek Bradley (Centre Manager, Trimdon Station Community Centre) for assisting us to organise the day and facilitating the workshop at his fabulous community centre.
