When Yesterday Was Young

Written by Paul

29th June 2017

Enter CIC are delighted to announce that our project entitled, When Yesterday Was Young, has been financially supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund. We’ll be working with Beamish Museum, The National Coal Mining Museum for England, and The North of England Institute of Mining and Mechanical Engineers.

The project has been designed to allow young people to discover and contribute to the North’s mining legacy. Young people will seek out information that may not be available anywhere else online, and create a living record of it for posterity. This will result in the creation of a community heritage museum in the heart of our local town. The community museum will feature song, dance, drama, stories and an immersive underground environment.

The community heritage museum will be open to the general public from the 22nd August 2017. It will be a fabulous, interactive event that highlights the North’s wonderful people, past and passion, as well as its future.

If you have stories, information, anecdotes, pictures, songs or anything else the world may find interesting about mining life in the North before, during or after the mining industries flourished, then contact us. If you know of a young person who would enjoy being involved in this initiative, please call our office on 01740 655437.
