We are delighted to announce that our young people have been awarded a ‘Youth in the Community’ certificate which has been awarded to our Upper School upperschoolcertificategroup. On Thursday 30th May 2013 our young people were invited to attend an event at St Lukes Church, Ferryhill. The event organised by Ferryhill Town Council was attended by local community groups and County Councillors.

The award itself is given to individuals or groups for outstanding contributions to their community. The award is only given to those that are nominated, so we are delighted that people recognise our young people and their contributions in the community.

Our Upper School, taking a short break from their busy rehearsal schedule for The Wind Road Boys provided the local community with a short performance, singing a well known musical number from ‘Les Miserables’ acapella.

The students were awarded the certificate by the Mayor of Ferryhill Councillor Ken Campbell (pictured right)

Over the past 6 months our students have been working really hard within the community. During the bad weather they took it upon themselves to help the community clear paths of snow and ice so residents could leave their homes safely. They have also worked closely with the older generation, providing them with a trip back in time in our celebration of age event.

Our students are honoured to receive this award for all their hard work and would like to thank the community. We are very proud of all our young people and we think they all deserve this certificate.
