On Wednesday 9th April 2014, we were delighted to welcome North East theatre company ZENDEH to the Enter Centre.
ZENDEH produces high quality cross art form productions with creative engagement programmes that are culturally eclectic, unforgettable and attract new audiences.
At Enter CIC we provide a number of unique opportunities for our young people to discover and experience different types of theatre. We invited ZENDEH to provide a workshop for us and were delighted when they brought their new show ‘HEART’ to share with us as well. It was fantastic to see the Enter Centre being used as a theatre space by another production company who are currently touring the show in theatres around the UK. Everyone at Enter really enjoyed the powerful, thought provoking story. It was also a great experience for some of our technical students who got involved and assisted the company in any way they could. The professional manner of our students was very clear to see, especially when one student was asked to run the lighting board for the whole show. He immediately agreed to the opportunity and despite not knowing the show he did an absolutely fantastic job!
After the performance ZENDEH provided a great workshop that explored the story of ‘HEART’. Our students really got involved and particularly enjoyed acting out a powerful scene from the production with the cast members.
When the workshop had finished it was time for our Enter CIC students to take to the stage to perform some scenes and songs from The Wind Road Boys and one of the new songs from our upcoming production ‘Home Fires’. The members from ZENDEH had briefly heard some of the rehearsals and warm up saying “that’s them just warming up? Wow!” but nothing could prepare them for what they witnessed that afternoon. As our students finished ‘Take My World’ tears were wiped from faces and silence captivated the audience as they were taken on an emotional roller-coaster with ‘Underneath the Banners’ and ‘The Light Shines On’ to finish.
We would like to thank ZENDEH for taking the time out of their busy touring schedule to come and visit us. We know that the students and staff at Enter CIC had a great time.
